2nd Symposium on Space Educational Activities

About the event

The 2nd Symposium on Space Educational Activities (2nd SSEA) event follows the first symposium which was initiated and hosted by the Center of Studies and Activities for Space (CISAS) ’Giuseppe Colombo’ of the University of Padova in December 2015, and will continue to be an excellent forum for students, professors, and professionals from around Europe to present and discuss their educational space-related projects and programmes. The purposes of the symposium are:

  • To constitute a forum that enables a survey of educational space-related activities;
  • To share experiences among students and young professionals from different countries and to provide networking opportunities with international professionals within the space sector;
  • To increase the understanding of academic, industrial, and government organisations of the importance of hands-on activities and specialised training and learning opportunities for the next generation of space scientists and engineers.

The symposium focuses on tertiary education (University level).

The website of the 1st SSEA (Padova, Italy, 9-12 December 2015) is available here.

RECOMMENDED ACCOMODATION

Dear Participant,

we list below some hotels for your consideration for the Conference period. These are either within walking distance or can be reached with public transport without changing lines from the Conference venue.

LOCATION

Budapest

Budapest is easily approachable by plane, train, bus and car. Well-known airlines (including several low-cost airlines, e.g., Ryanair, WizzAir, EasyJet) have their regular flights to Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport. Budapest is famous not only for the monuments reflecting its own 1,000-year-old culture, but also for the relics of others who settled here. Remains from both Roman occupation and much later ruled by the Turks can still be seen in the city.The capital has two sides, Buda and Pest, stretching along the banks of the Danube, representing two different characters of the city: the hilly Buda and flat landed Pest.The panorama of Budapest is breathtaking, and it does not get old to look from the Fisherman's Bastion or Citadella onto its fantastic scenery.Budapest has a lot to offer. Museums and galleries, churches and synagogues, palaces and historic buildings, baths and pools are presented together with the influence of Secession in the city.There is an unmistakable feeling that something out of the ordinary is just around the corner, but what it will be is up to you to find out...

Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME)

The university offers perfect venue for the Symposium. BME, founded in 1782, is the most significant university of Technology in Hungary and is considered the world's oldest Institute of Technology which has university rank and structure. Nearly all of the large domestic and multinational companies have entered multiyear research cooperation agreements with the university, and installed well-equipped laboratories at the university. International relations of the university nearly cover the globe. Due to the good public transport system of the city, the university can be easily accessed by metro, trams and buses. A detailed map of the university can be found at here.
